Destiny’s Child Reunion by 2018
Will Destiny’s Child reunite for an album and tour by 2018? According to statements made by Matthew Knowles (Beyoncé’s father) during interview with the Huffington Post this past Monday there’s a very strong possibility that it can happen. A Little History… The American R&B girl group Destiny’s child, which originally formed back in 1990 as Girl’s Time and signed to Columbia Records as Destiny’s Child in 1996, might be linking up to rehash our classic favorites and more! The original group included 5 members.
● Beyoncé Knowles
● Kelly Rowland
● LaTavia Roberson
● LeToya Luckett
● Farrah Franklin
Due to legal issues and accusations of favoritism some of the group members went their separate ways. Both LaTavia and LeToya Luckett were replaced by Michelle Williams. Farrah Franklin left the group in 2000. After Farrah’s departure the trio of Beyoncé Knowles, Kelly Rowland, and Michelle Williams remained. Altogether, over the span of a decade (+) the group created such classic projects and singles such as
■ Destiny’s Child (1998)
■ The Writing’s on the Wall (1999)
■ Survivor (2001)
■ 8 Days of Christmas (2001)
■ Destiny Fulfilled (2004)
Some of the group’s chart topping and best known singles were Independent Women, Survivor, and Bootylicious.
Present Day Destiny’s Child
Currently, the group (trio: Beyoncé, Kelly, and Michelle) isn’t together, but they have reunited and made appearances in the past. One of Destiny’s Child’s last farewell performances occurred at the 2006 NBA All-Star Game on February 19 in Houston, Texas. To hear Matthew Knowles say, “I am extremely hopeful that the ladies will come back with an album and a tour. I’m working on a few Destiny’s Child projects right now, is not only exciting, but it also seems promising.” Although the group separated almost a decade ago Matthew Knowles still manages them (the group, not group members as solo artist’s.) It is also rumored that emails were leaked that made mention of a Destiny’s Child biopic. We shall see!
