Knowledge is Power
Industry Influence is a monthly music conference that is held every first Monday of the Month in New Orleans, La. at The Howling Wolf (907 S. Peters St). It was founded in October of 2008 by Wild Wayne and Sess 4-5. Industry Influence creates an avenue for independent artist by assisting them in getting exposed in all aspects of the music business; from an educational standpoint. Attendees are granted the opportunity to network, get educated, and to view a showcase of some of the best talent that Louisiana has to offer. It’s hella dope son!
Industry influence 66 was all the way==> live! The National Director of Promotions from Sony Pictures and Atlantic Records Amir Windom, said that “New artists should focus on being creative.” There were live performances by C. Perkins (The Voice—Season 4), Jimi Clever, Peedy Cash, Ja So Rude, and more! DJ E.F. Cuttin held it down on the 1’s and 2’s. The night always begins with live music, a brief introduction of what could be expected throughout the night, the artists/business spotlight, and ends with the epitome of epic. If you missed Industry Influence 66 you missed one hell of a party! Check out the recap!
Life Lessons…

From the Panel…
You must be creative. If you’re age 19 focus on the college and high school demographic. High school students are sponges. Focus on creative branding. It’s about connecting the dots. All genres of rap are connected. Everything happens in waves... It’s called Hip – Hop and it’s an evolution.
—Amir Windom
Panel Question:
Young Gwop: People look at New Orleans a s a bounce market. Do A&R’s take artists that are from New Orleans serious; as hip- hop artists?
Amir Windom: Artists like Lupe Fiasco, T. I., and B.O.B. have been discovered; just to name a few. I’m just looking for talent.
If a million dollars is invested in an artist… we have to feel like it’s worth it.—Amir Windom
Slight Work During Industry influence…
Shelby Skipper: Has been on The Ellen De Generes Show. He just recently returned from London with Big Freedia. He performed on News With A Twist prior to that. He has a show coming up in New York on August 14th. He wants bounce dancing to become a real genre.
Jimi Clever hit’s the stage and delivers a ground breaking performance that deserves a standing ovation and then some. He did a few songs from his newly released album Audio Journals 5. Jimi performed his single Rap Vs. Bounce and had the crowd rocking. Two exclusive, Ja So Rude, and others also performed.

Panel Question:
Sess 4-5: Are the shows scripted?
C. Perkins: So You Think You Can Dance is real. Everyone has their picks and chooses, but it’s real. The producers have the ultimate say so.
